Hi guys! It has been a LONG time since I visited, how is everyone doing? Glad to see Project Senso still up and going strong!  cool

THE STORY OF MY LIFE

I used to go by the online identity of Tommy Shi and wrecked havoc on several forums, especially this one. Now that I'm a little wiser, i feel a deep sense of regret for abusing the friendship of the people here. Ncknight was one of the friendliest dude I ever came across in an online community! Remember the good old days when he told me his business experience over the phone and how going for a castration would turn men into super focused entrepreneurs hahahaha.

UNPROFESSIONAL TRADING

A couple of years ago I tried to trade futures and forex as an independent trader. This sort of endeavor usually inspired a fair amount of hubris, especially so for a kid like me.

I had a little success in the beginning, which turned into a major ego problem. When it all came crashing back to reality and i ended up with a small loss, I am glad it happened because it really put some humility back in me! (I was swinging a US$3500 account and I lost about US$500..ouch!)

It was when I realised I know SO LITTLE! That was when I signed up for university...

FIRM ROOTING

Now I take a humble approach to finance: I signed up for a related degree. I have fallen in love with stuff like portfolio theory, fund management and arbitrage. Planning to go for a masters in financial economics, hope i get in!

I feel like one of those proud young entrepreneur who starts his own business, look down on others, fail miserably and learned to be humble. So drama! Well, such is life. Smiley

I hope you guys will forgive a reckless kid who didn't know better. embarassed

Hi Tommy,

No worries. Everyone make mistakes.

Still in the market? It is like a warzone out there now. I'm hope you've sold all.

I look forward to your contribution, especially in the finance section.

Hi tommy

Welcome back, true like what jag82 said everyone made mistake.
most important is when you make mistake we have to
1) analyse why we fail
2) what have we lost from this mistake
3) try to think what would you have done to improve the situation when you are given a 2nd chance
4) learn from your lesson
5) carry on with life

shall look forward for your contribution regarding finance yeah..

cheers

Jag! Long time no see, erm, i mean read! Cheesy I have not been holding an outright position for a long time! That probably saved me from the recent fiasco. Hahaha.

The finance forum seems kinda neglected nowadays. Even the channelnewsasia futures forum looks quiet. I wonder where everyone went?

Everything is good. Just really busy nowadays. If only one could squeeze more than 24 hours into a day. So you're in university now eh.

I'm just about to graduate. But running my own business too. My office is in Tanjong Pagar Road. If you are around the area. Just drop me a hollar.

YES! I wish I had more than 24 hours a day too!!

I'm in my final year in university liao. Time flies! Back then when I first came here I was still in the army, drawing MACD by hand on graph paper to see how it all works...hahaha the good old days.

I'll love to drop by your office one of these days. Good luck and God bless whatever you do! Smiley

Draw MACD by hand? You don't have a program to help you?

ChartNexus is pretty good.

By the way, which university are you studying in?

Jag

I used to use Amibroker. Free and very customizable. Didn't really like working the famous Tradestation that everyone and their grandmother were using back then.

Oh, i drew a small MACD graph by hand because I was bored and I really wanted to see how it worked. Waste of time really. Tongue

I'm at SIM now.

Will be glad to have you around Tommy.

Wow last year of uni already. Sheesh you are on par with me now. Haha.

Oh c'mon, not everyone used the tradestation then. It was so expensive then. Anyhows seems like they only have their online version now.

I'll still stick to programming on my old and trusted metastock. LOL

And well its all your fault that it ain't rowdy anymore. You disappeared!
