hi, i'm doing research for an events management company that targets prom nights for secondary school and jc, and thought i'd be able to find some information here.

i have several questions, and i need any advice that comes along too.

first up - what are the bigger names in event management here in sg?

what are the price ranges for events management?

what are some of the barriers a new events management company faces?

what are some of the costs involved in both organising an event and setting up an events management company?

thanks for your time. =)

Hi Feizai!

great business idea!

first of all, a analysis of the school market, if you observe, most of the time,t he school have their commitee to organise such event.

end of the day, the schools always like to have something which they can call their "very own" and what's better than they doing it themselves.

on another note, if we think they would like to "outsource their event" to vendors, guess we are wrong!, these students have a lot of time on their hand to make things happen somehow.

the bigger names of event mgmt in Singapore? there are a lot though I do not have the name in specific.

but if you have a nich market and idea, technically speaking, you do not have a problem with the big names i singapore.

you should be concerned with the smaller names in singapore who will compete with you on such project as you might have know or calculated that your margin might not be very pretty or encouraging.

but small start-up WILL grab at everything events they can lay their hands on. so......look at what smaller palyers are competing on and decide whether do you want to compete, be away, or find a new ground?

prices for such events mgmt is hard to say, depending on your customer's requirements. a normal prom or D&D will easily cost a whopping $20k upwards costing, maybe include your profit margin (which might not be much).

but if you are dealing with schools, forget about pricing at $20k, they decide the budget you shoul have and you work around that, thats the school market! (tried them before, therefore speaking from experience)

Barriers facing a new events mgmt comapny is similar to most business.
1) capital to purchase or lease your equipment.
2) immediate networks or contacts to supply your equipments and neccessities.

3) location to store your logitics (of course you can do it at home if you are ok with the mess)

4) personal van or transport to move around every often
5) most importantly, be prepared to work round the clock for the 1st to 2nd year (eating, working on the go)

I have a associate who can advice you in-depth as he have great experience running his own event mgmt company before. his name if Spencer and you can reach him at spencer.seah@gmail.com

hope the general info above helps in your evalation of your business idea.
