Forget about pdfs... 98% of the world population are basically using either pirated, code breakers, illegally downloaded or 'stolen' (borrowed) softwares not mentioning about Adobe PDF.

Guess it's tough creating software goods...

Ebooks in pdf formats can be more convenient. Some people prefer to read on the computer; some can even read on their palm while travelling.
A pdf is a type of file format that can be opened using your adobe acrobat reading. Most documents on the web are stored as pdf format.

Hi all. I'm pretty new to this forum, but from what i've read so far, i must say i'm sufficiently impressed enough by the entrepurnuerial spirit and business knowledge shown here by the forum members, for me to come in here everyday to read the threads and postings.

Anyway i'm pretty interested in exploring eBay as a form of earning passive income when i'm still studying (am currently 3rd year in NUS). Been researching on it. However since i have not done any internet transaction before, i have queries that i hope anyone can answer me.

Lets say i order something from a website and i give my credit card no., will there be a chance of any over-deduction? Is there anyway to avoid situation such as this? And if this opposite party is not considered the established kind (in this i mean something like Amazon.com) , won't getting back money be difficult?

Ok i know my question sounds a bit stupid, but i just wanna make sure especially when online transaction is foreign to me, and may be potentially risky.  Will appreciate a lot if anyone can answer them. Thanks a million!

As long as the website is reputable and ethical, there shouldn't be any problems. For online purchase, if you discover that you did not make that transaction, you can ask for your bank to make a chargeback.

Actually, buying things online is no less risky than using your credit card in your daily life. Have you used your credit card at restaurants before? The waiter could have just as easily copied your card details and use it to buy something online. All before you discover it.

Hey thanks mudnik for your reply. Yeah i agree that using credit card has its risks...regardless of where and when it's used, like the example you mentioned. However that doesn't mean i should be any less cautious. I'm just worried the website may be unethical, and anyhow deduct, which will pose a big problem in getting it back later. There is no way to find out, unless i know it's established. I guess such risks are inevitable. Anyway thanks again for your reply.

PS. I;m really beginning to like this community. Can identify with the crowd here  Cheesy

At the end of the month when you receive your statement and discover the fraud, you can always call the credit card company and you don't have to pay anything. I think its part of the perks you get for signing up a credit card. (debit cards are a different story)
