Hi Kite,

Its really a matter of corporate identity. .Com is still the best, but it also depends on what type of org you are setting up. .Net,.Mobi are some others. Sometimes, a company will buy all .com permutations just to protect the domain. You can check out godaddy.com on who owns it and maybe work out sth with them or you could consider using .sg if you have a good enough plan to draw traffic direct onto your website.

my 2 cents~

Cheers

kite,

Godaddy is not the cheapest, but at least they don't die overnight like the RegisterFly fiasco.

Shazwi,

They can't always get you domains you want; they just act as a middleman to negotiate with the domain squatters so if the price is not met, nothing is gotten anyway.

I guess the best answer is "how much are you willing to pay?" for those domains that are being squatted on, and "how innovative are you in thinking of a name?" for domains that do not exist yet.

try domaintools.com for some suggestions.

If you are talking how much you will pay for domains that you really want...
some pple go to the extent of paying a million USD for a single domain...
and my domain squatter mentor squat on half a million domains for persistent domain buyer like you... to spend a few hundreds to few thousands dollars for a single domain.

Enjoy your search.

Extracted from : http://www.ipmirror.com/Promo/smedomain.html

The SME (Small Medium Enterprise) Domain Name Reservation is part of the Infocomm @ SME programme which is a collaboration between IDA, ACRA and SGNIC and its registrar IP Mirror. The official launch date is 28 Dec 2007. Under this scheme, all domain names under the .com.sg or .sg will enjoy a subsidy from IDA for the first domain name registration for new business entities or business entities without a domain name.

Last month John Gotts, an entrepreneur known for buying the rights to domain names, agreed to buy the site Wiki.com for $2.86 million.

How much you like to spend on your next domain?Huh
