I have always love to predict the trend of the market, and the impact of the tools to the internet marketing community.

When the twitter first came out, it is a simple mini blogging tool, which only the USA public were using, that was 3 years back.  I had already made a simple prediction that twitter would be a big thing in social media marketing, and it would be the place where the latest news update is available.

Currently most of the major news agencies and publishers are using twitter to broadcast updates to their journalists and readers.

Now, the newest trend will materialize in the next few months, and by the end of 2010, we shall see that the world will accept a new trend known as Google wave.  It will be a darling for many internet marketers and news agencies.

The explosive effect of Google wave has already been felt from its alpha developer launch to its beta tester launch.  Millions of testers are willing to test the application.  Why, is it a hype?

It probably is, up to now.  But this hype will continues, since it is a new form of communication tool ... that will replace our existing mode of communication.  It actually integrates the 60 google apps that google has bought over or developed over the years.

Google ultimate strategy is to be the platform for storage, search of information. and with google wave, it will be the largest platform for information collaboration and communication.

My prediction, either facebook combines with google wave and form a new platform, or google create their own social networking platform that will be larger than myspace and facebook combine.

The power of google friend connect allows web developer to change their website into a social networking platform instantly, simply by adding a piece of javascript, while google wave add the functionalities for friends to communicate within the website.

All websites can become a social networking platform instantly with the combination of google wave and google friend connect.  and this will be a major trend for Web 3.0.
Cheers

As a user to Google Wave, you should be experiencing the erratic behavior of google wave. You probably know about these. Google Wave is still on its Preview stage and things get pretty rocky sometimes. Erratic behavior, slow system, features that are working, stop working, start working again after a few days, have taken its toll on some users that are now taking a more careful approach to Google Wave but, in Google’s defense, they have been listening to users, giving more feedback and improving the overall performance of the system.

Sometimes I think that users are using Google Wave in ways that Google never thought of (this much is true for public waves that were not a part of the original plans) and they are trying to adapt to it as well. This applies to a wave’s size limit as well. The original permitted size for any wave was around 50kb when Google Wave opened to public preview (around 51200 characters). Now those limits have been raised to around 100kb but waves keep reaching their size limit.

As Roderick has mentioned about cloud computing in the previous article comment, basically we are definitely interested to know how google actually limit the resource allocated to each wavelet, and how the noise can be cut. Google wave will encourage spam in a new way, therefore there must be limit and private setting for each wavelet.

Google Wave has a lot of innovative features, but here are just a few:

- Real-time: In most instances, you can see what someone else is typing, character-by-character.

- Embeddability: Waves can be embedded on any blog or website.

- Applications and Extensions: Just like a Facebook application or an iGoogle gadget, developers can build their own apps within waves. They can be anything from bots to complex real-time games.

- Wiki functionality: Anything written within a Google Wave can be edited by anyone else, because all conversations within the platform are shared. Thus, you can correct information, append information, or add your own commentary within a developing conversation.

- Open source: The Google Wave code will be open source, to foster innovation and adoption amongst developers.

- Playback: You can playback any part of the wave to see what was said.

- Natural language: Google Wave can autocorrect your spelling, even going as far as knowing the difference between similar words, like “been” and “bean.” It can also auto-translate on-the-fly.

- Drag-and-drop file sharing: No attachments; just drag your file and drop it inside Google Wave and everyone will have access.
