How many of you have experience listening to a song that somehow got you emotional? Maybe it conveyed a powerful message?Maybe a motivational one. And at that particular moment of listening to this particular song, a certain emotion gets triggered off...

I knew I had!

Here are some of the songs I personally soak myself in when I feel I need extra guidance and motivation.

Hero by Mariah Carey

A meaningful song with an extremely impactful message behind it which says that you are a Hero if you look inside yourself.

I think every single one on Earth should listen to this song, with special attention to the lyrics.

For myself, I first got in touch with this song when I was 13 and somehow or rather, after listening to this song, I was able to harness my positive inner motivation and strength.

The Greatest Love of All by Whitney Houston

I suspect the title of this song is incomplete. Whatever it is, the message behind this song tells you that The Greatest Love of All... Is to Love Yourself.

Definitely, this is a great boost for self-esteem and self-confidence!

... more coming up

Meanwhile do share! =)

Not only pop and punk rock songs offer motivation. There are also songs from Broadway Classics and Musicals that are meaningful, especially with the lyrics and the tunes. Here's 1 song from the Musical 'The Sound of Music', titled Climb Every Mountain. This song pulls me back when I'm lost in my directions and make me reflect what are my passions, goals and dreams in my life.

If any of you watched The Sound of Music and comes to the scene when the Abbess sings this song, you'll understand and appreciate the appropriateness of this piece. Do download or get the song and listen to it to get the full feel.

Climb Every Mountain

Climb ev’ry mountain
Search high and low
Follow every byway
Every path you know

Climb ev’ry mountain
Ford every stream
Follow every rainbow
Till you find your dream

A dream that will need
All the love you can give
Every day of your life
For as long as you live

Climb ev’ry mountain
Fold every stream
Follow every rainbow
Till you find your dream

A dream that will need
All the love you can give
Every day of your life
For as long as you live

Climb ev’ry mountain
Fold every stream
Follow every rainbow
Till... you... find... your...dream!

Well, Taymastery have you watched the whole musical? If you have, then you'll appreciate that particular scene, that song and it's lyrics. The significance behind that song sung by the Abbess is that we have to venture out, dare to face & overcome all the hardships and find a dream that we all love. Then work on it till we achieve our dreams. Read the lyrics carefully, line by line and then interpret whole verses.

hahaha!

ok..ok...may be got "generation X" gap la....
cannot force Tay to listen to such songs, I think he would doze off... Smiley

guess all of us have our own songs to back us up. sometimes, you just need to listen different music for different purposes; creativity task, thinking task, dynamic, go-getter task.

example, I always like listening to Corrine May album when I write articles or doing creativity task and conceptualisation.

chim....right? haha

Yeah, I agree it is the 'generation gap'... hahaha seems like I'm getting 'old' to enjoy such classics and opera-like numbers. But then motivation and inspirations come in different forms. Taymastery's sure come in pop & rock music styles. Nowadays churches use bands too. Times have changed.

 "I Want to Break Free"
By Queen

One of the greatest rock bands in the world!

Sing it all the time during NS, very motivational stuff. Haha!  grin

But their music video is freakily freaky with all the drag costumes. Talking about breaking out of convention.

How about "Don Cha" by Pussycat Dolls? Just replace "girlfriend" with "entrepreneur":

Don cha wish your entrepreneurs are hot like me?
Don cha wish your entrepreneurs are free like me?
Don cha....

And imagine chio-bus in short miniskirts dancing around you. That's what my "Entrepreneur of the Year" video will look like.  afro

How's that for motivation??

My vote will go for Haddaway's Life Will Never Be The Same. Since I cannot find that song (for some odd reason it's not popular with the masses) here's a song from the same singer:
